Description

Long lost words whisper slowly to me
Still can't find what keeps me here
When all this time I've been so hollow inside
I know you're still there

Evanescence

This is a very emotive image, and something a bit darker than what I usually draw. But it the reference was very powerful nonetheless, and I felt compelled to draw it.

The reference was taken from *ValentinaKallias wonderful gallery, and is one of which she is the model. She has a lot of brilliant photos to accompany her digital artwork, and I hope to draw more pictures from her gallery sometime in the future.

When seeing this image at the beginning and all during the process of drawing, I was constantly reminded of Amy Lee from the band Evanescence. It was this striking resemblance that inspired both the image's title along with the accompanying lyrics.

Also, you'll notice this is my first in a long time to utilize color. I originally had the vision to draw the picture in grayscale while adding color to the eye emphasize focus towards it.

Mostly I really really really like this. The hair is so light and whispy, and the skin shading is so beautiful. The composition really draws attention to the eye, by your use of light and shape within the image.

Since you asked for critique I'm going to get very nitpicky.
Firstly, I feel that the blue eye is a little cliché and while nice.. it's almost a little toooo much. I feel your composition is clear enough to draw you to look at the eye without the blue. It looks good, but from an originality perspective not so much.

Also, on the right of the image, although it's very dark the hair still has little bits and flicks of detail hinting through the darkness.
On the left there is a huge band of dark black with no details at all... this does throw off the composition a little, perhaps a teeny bit of light could be picked up on the hair in there.

Otherwise very nice work
